- Colby Covington did not hold back from insulting BKFC and its fighters in a recent interview
- “Chaos” thinks BKFC has become nothing but a sport for “UFC washouts”
BKFC previously made headlines after Conor McGregor delighted the fans with a faceoff with BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) star Mike Perry, who made former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold quit in two rounds. Despite the buzz, BKFC still failed to impress No. 2 UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington.
No time for UFC washouts
Speaking to James Lynch, “Chaos” bluntly said he doesn’t know what’s going on with BKFC and he never cared about the entire sport. For Covington, BKFC is just a platform for dwindling MMA fighters and “UFC washouts.”
“Nah. To be honest, I’ve never watched one of those fights,” Covington said of BKFC. “I’m not interested in a sport like that and especially nonetheless of guys that are just UFC washouts. These are just guys that are going to fight at the Indian Fairgrounds because they couldn’t make it in the UFC, so we’re talking about the biggest and best business and the biggest and best fights, and that’s only in the UFC. it’s the best organization in the world.”
A BKFC star vs. A UFC star?
As expected, McGregor’s surprise appearance at BKFC 41 caused shockwaves in the world of combat sports. Following his faceoff with “Notorious,” Perry expressed his interest to take on the UFC superstar in the future. On the other hand, McGregor later stated in a social media post that he is also down to fight for a bare-knuckle boxing title if God would lead him there.
UFC president Dana White, meanwhile, wasn’t that shocked by McGregor’s recent link-up with BKFC. For the UFC boss, it was more of a shenanigan as the former two-division champ was apparently drinking some Proper No. 12 whiskey that night and was clearly just having fun.
