Jorge Masvidal Wants to Challenge WWE’s Best

Since the UFC was purchased by WME/ING back in July 2016, fans predicted a change in direction for the sport. Money fights, double champs, and even crossover boxing matches have occurred in the tenure of the new ownership. Hardcore fans believe the whimsical theatrics are reminiscent of those displayed in Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment. Taking the entertainment to the next level, UFC welterweight and ‘BMF’ title contender Jorge Masvidal seems like he wouldn’t make taking on some of the biggest stars that the WWE has to offer.

Masvidal spoke to WWE Hall of Famer and 6-time world champion Booker T on his Reality of Wrestling podcast featured on ESPN.

Masvidal Spoke to Booker T About His Life and UFC 244

In the interview, Masvidal spoke about his humble beginnings. Both him and Booker drew parallels from each other’s lives. Bonding over similar parental upbringings and trouble with the law, both men showed respect towards each other when it came to the profession of both professional wrestling and MMA fighting.

Booker also asked Masvidal about his rise to stardom and his main event matchup with Nate Diaz at UFC 244.

“It means a lot,” said Masvidal in regards to the matchup and his legacy. “I respect Nate a lot. He’s another dog man. There’s not a lot of dogs in my sport, especially in my division. He’s a dog,” continued Jorge.

Masvidal Plans to Face the Baddest on WWE Roster

Masvidal then spoke about an epiphany he had on a reality TV show he appeared on. Aware of the fact that he has the most split decision losses in the UFC, Masvidal thought to himself, ‘If I just knock these guys out, that problem goes away.’ He then went on to mention that finishing Diaz and walking away with the ‘BMF’ title is part of his plans for UFC 244. Jorge also revealed a little extra ‘BMF’ title info.

“Let me tell you something, and I’m going to drop it on your show because I have a lot of respect for you. What you just told me impacted me even more. I want you to tell me who the baddest motherf***er is over on the WWE and that’s who’s next after this fight,” asked Masvidal. “God willing, I get my hand raised on November 2nd and I get this victory, I want to go over and challenge the baddest motherf***er in WWE. I know theres some bad motherf***ers over there,” said Jorge.

Booker T laughed at the response and told Masivdal that he might be forgetting that Brock Lesnar is over at WWE. Masvidal replied and said that Brock didn’t want any parts of Lesnar. Also, he explained a story about how Lesnar saw Masvidal at Whole Foods and ran, saying that Lesnar ‘doesn’t want this.’

‘BMF’ Title Influence

It seems like Masvidal is all in on the ‘BMF’ title and all the press that comes with the artificial title. Also, Jorge seems to be enjoying the WWE influence of the title. Even The Rock has joined in on the title and would like to place the title around Masvidals waist if he should win the match.

How do fans feel about the ‘BMF’ title? Do they feel like they should embrace the fun aspect of the title? Or, do they feel like the fake title diminishes the company’s long-standing reputation as the most prominent and respected MMA organization in the world?
