UFC legend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is positive Jon Jones will do well at heavyweight and Ciryl Gane could have a chance of beating “Bones” by not taking the fight to the ground.

Stay on the feet

Speaking to The Schmo, Rampage pointed out that heavyweights more often than not, have devastating power in their hands. With Jones being a superb wrestler, Gane should not risk it all on grappling and take the former light heavyweight champion out on the feet as much as possible.

“I think, Ciryl Gane, I think he had to stay away from his wrestling because I think if a heavyweight’s… They got a bigger punching power, if he can land strikes and keep John Johnson taking them down and he’ll do okay,” Jackson speculated.

Jon was Rampage’s toughest opponent

Jackson also admitted that he doesn’t really know a lot about “Bon Gamin” but he is definitely sure Jones, whom he lost to in a title fight in 2011, is one of the best there is.

“The heavyweight division has always been ‘the’ division, but now that Jon Jones has moved up from light heavyweight to heavyweight, he’s gonna start apart. Jon Jones is the best fighter I ever faced in my life. I faced some of the best, or the best. More power to him you know, Kane, I don’t know what’s the name of the guy… Ciryl Gane… My bad. I don’t know much about Ciryl Gane but I saw him fight a couple times, I think Jon John Jones, I think he would do well in the heavyweight,” Jackson said.

Jackson previously said that Jones is the “dirtiest fighter” he has ever fought. By that, Rampage meant “Bones” was such a smart fighter. Jackson added that Jones’ wrestling will be his key to victory against Gane.

Jones is coming in as a heavyweight debutant after being the longtime light heavyweight champion. Gane, meanwhile, is given another crack at the title as he looks to avenge his title fight loss to now former UFC champ and fighter Francis Ngannou.

Jones and Gane will face each other at UFC 285 on March 4, 2023 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As for Rampage, he hasn’t fought since 2019 after he lost to now-retired Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 237.
