Marlon Vera has a ton of confidence he will defeat Sean O’Malley again at UFC 299 to become the bantamweight champion.
Vera and O’Malley are set to headline UFC 299 in Miami for the bantamweight title. It serves as a rematch of their 2020 fight which Vera won by first-round TKO in a fight that O’Malley hurt his ankle in.

Since then, the two have continued to take shots at one another, and in Sean O’Malley’s first title defense, he will rematch Marlon Vera. It’s an intriguing matchup and Vera believes his speed will be the difference.
“I believe I’m faster, I believe I’m a better fighter, I believe everything I f*****g believe, but also put in work. That’s the only thing he was able to say to me was, you’re too slow, you’re too slow, cool,” Vera said to The Schmo.
Although Marlon Vera has confidence in himself to get his hand raised, ‘Chito’ is currently a +164 underdog to beat Sean O’Malley at UFC 299.
Marlon Vera has a callout ready after UFC 299
If Marlon Vera does beat Sean O’Malley at UFC 299 to become the bantamweight champ, he already knows who he will fight next.

Although many point to the winner of Merab Dvalishvili vs. Henry Cejudo getting the next title shot, Vera says that won’t be the case. Instead, he plans to call out Cory Sandhagen to be his first title defense, for one reason only.
“As a man, as a real man, I will ask for Sandhagen, because he beat me. That’s the only reason I will choose that fight. The winner of Merab vs. Henry is also a big fight, and the UFC knows, whoever they pick I will [fight]. But if I had to choose myself, I want to kick Cory’s a*s. I know his dorky a*s is crying about it, but it’s not my fault no one gives a f**k about him,” Vera said.
Of course, Sandhagen scored a decision win over Vera in the main event of UFC San Antonio back in March, and ‘Chito’ wants to get the win back. However, for that to happen, he will need to pull off the upset against O’Malley at UFC 299.
