- Patrick Mix boast about being the best bantamweight in the world
- Patchy is confident he could stop Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan
Patrick “Patchy” Mix is convinced that no bantamweight is better than him at this point and there’s no doubt he could beat Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan.
The best there is
Speaking to MMA Mania, Mix refuted the narrative that O’Malley holds the title as the best bantamweight in the world as he believes it belongs to none other than him. In Patchy’s defense, his amateur and pro records speak for themselves. Moreover, stats show that he barely lost a round in his entire career.
“I am the best bantamweight on the planet,” Mix declared. “Because of the letters in front of my name, that’s it. Look at me and who they deem as the best bantamweight in the world. Look at Sean O’Malley’s credentials next to my credentials. I’ve fought just as tough competition, I have more finishes, he’s lost more rounds than me, and I’m one round removed from being 31 in a row, 11-0 amateur, 19-1 as a pro. This guy is like 9 and 2 as a amateur, 18 and 1 as a pro… I barely lost rounds in my whole life.”
“I’m the best bantamweight on the planet…I slept Maga, just as I would sleep Petr Yan and I would sleep Sean O’Malley”

Patchy could take Sean and Petr out
Mix also pointed out that O’Malley and Yan both exposed their weaknesses when they fought each other and when Yan fought Magomed Magomedov. For Patchy, he is the only bantamweight who hasn’t been figured out by any top 135-pounders in the sport today and he could confidently say he could finish both “Suga” and Yan.
“Then you watch what little Petr Yan did to him [O’Malley], you look at that fight, Petr Yan and him, look at how close that was. Then you look at Maga (Magomedov) and you look at him fight Petr Yan. The only person that’s out of the whole stratosphere is me. I slept Maga, just as I would sleep Petr Yan too and I would sleep Sean O’Malley too, so on and so forth,” Mix claimed.
Mix is set to face Magomedov in a rematch at the Bellator Championship Series on May 17. Prior to that, Mix pulled off a sensational submission win over Sergio Pettis and first-round KO on Raufeon Stots.
