- Marlon Vera thinks Sean O’Malley will not be able to handle a tough opponent like him
- “Chito” was not thrilled by his first face-off with the bantamweight champ
Marlon Vera is aware that Sean O’Malley has what it takes to be a great fighter but at the same time, he is also confident that he could take him out the second time around.
Sean can’t survive Chito
In a recent interview with Michael Bisping, Vera did not shy away from praising O’Malley’s skills as a fighter. However, “Chito” pointed out that “Sugar” is not capable of surviving tough fights and opponents just like him.
“He’s a very talented guy and he can fight and everything but I said it before and I will say it again he won’t keep up on a hard fight… he moves well and he plans to use his athleticism and I’m gonna make him fight and now you will have to face me, I’ll be ready, I’ll be prepared I mean I know what I need to be there, I know everything I’ve been through so I’m gonna get that belt, I’m gonna go through him, I’m gonna stop him and I’m gonna be world champion,” Vera said.
The face-off wasn’t real
O’Malley and Vera previously had their first face-off in front of the media. When asked to comment about it, “Chito” said that it wasn’t his idea of a real face-off.
“I wanna bring the most dense energy there, I wanna be as mean as I can possibly be… but the face-off, it’s not a real face-off, there’s security there. A real face-off would be like whatever happens, happens,” Vera pointed out.
“He don’t wanna talk the way he talks online in real life face to face… People like that doesn’t say that type of sh*t face to face. I mean, I was in front of him, I never heard anything. So, I was like, ‘Cool. Take a picture. F**k off,” he added.
O’Malley and Vera will take on each in a highly-anticipated rematch at UFC 299. The pair first clashed at UFC 252 where “Chito” TKO’d O’Malley in the first round.
Vera is coming in off a decision win over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292. On the other hand, O’Malley will defend his bantamweight title for the first time.
