Jon Jones issued a fiery response to boxing icon Tyson Fury after the latter seemingly walked back on his callout.

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones was last seen in action against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 two months ago. The bout marked his move up to the heavyweight division and highly-anticipated comeback to competition after a three-year hiatus. Jones handily dispatched Gane in the opening round using a guillotine choke submission without absorbing much damage.

Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan lauded Jones for his incredible achievements in the sport. He believes Jones is the best athlete across all combat sports and backed him to dominate Fury in a hypothetical matchup.

Earlier this week, Fury put Rogan on blast for his comments while claiming he’d defeat Jones if the two were locked up in a room together.

Tyson Fury changes tone on Jon Jones callout

In a recent Instagram story, Tyson Fury walked back his callout of Jon Jones by restricting its scope to only boxing.

“I see Jon Jones has piped up,” said Fury. “Jon, you’re talking about me in a cage. I’m not a cage fighter, mate. I’m a boxer, the best boxer actually. So if you want to come into a boxing ring to fight me, be my guest. Let me know. You don’t have to call anybody else. No Danas nobody. You call me because it’s a boxing fight and I’m the boss of this game, me. You’re a great fighter, Jon. But you’re definitely no boxer and that’s for sure.”

Jones bashes Fury for walking back on the callout

‘Bones’ hit back at ‘The Gypsy King’ for changing his tone after declaring he’d win the hypothetical showdown.

Jones wrote, “Yesterday, Tyson says, ‘no man born from a mother can beat me’, today he says ‘Jon can never beat me in a boxing ring’. Yeah I’m glad we got that clarified. You just switched your beat up faster than Travis Barker, impressive.”

He followed up with a sarcastic message poking fun at Fury’s response in an Instagram story.

“Oh boy! Tyson Fury out there claiming he gonna beat me up. I better back off!” said Bones before bursting into laughter.

Jon Jones has been linked to face former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in his next outing later this year. He’s hinted at the possibility of hanging up his gloves following the bout, making a move to boxing seem doubtful.
