After reclaiming the title in her last outing, Amanda Nunes looked to extend her winning run against Irene Aldana at UFC 289.

Another jab from Nunes and kick to the body. Jab from Nunes. Jab to the body from Nunes. Aldana lands a left hand. Jab from Nunes. Big left hand by Nunes and right back from Aldana. Strong right hook from Aldana. Aldana with an inside calf kick.
Round 2
Nunes jabs. 1-2 from Nunes and a low kick. Low kick by Aldana. Jab from Nunes. Nunes continues to prod with her lead leg. Nunes fakes a takedown and lands a couple hooks. Leg kick and jab by Nunes. Nunes with a single leg, throws Aldana down and lets her back up immediately. Short right overhand by Nunes. Aldaana witth a low kick. Uppercut by Nunes and a knee to the body. Leg kick by Aldana and she eats a counter left. Strong left to the body and right hook to the face from Nunes. Body kick by Nunes. Nice left hand from Nunes and she takes Aldana down before letting her up again. They close the round with heavy low kicks.
Round 3
Nunes turns up the pressure and lets her hands go against Aldana’s high guard. Nunes jabs. Nunes jabs again and again on the backfoot. Nunes goes for a takedown, Aldana resits but Nunes locks her hands around, picks her up, and gets the takedown. She’s on top laying the ground and pound. She’s looking for submission or to take side control. Aldana gets up and Nunes tripped her right away. They get up and Nunes grapples against the fence. She trips her down and takes her back. She’s looking for a sub but she’s too high. They get back to their feet. Counter overhand right from Nunes. Nunes with a jab to the body. Strong right hook and knee and more punches from Nunes to close the round.
Round 4
Nunes with a jab. Aldana with a kick to the leg. Aldana on the front foot here. Huge elbow from Nunes and she’s landing at will here. She lands another jab. Nunes with a takedown attempt and she gets an uppercut through while grappling. Stinging jab from Nunes. Nunes shoots and gets the takedown. She lets her up and pounces right away. Aldana reverses while grappling. They separate. Jab from Nunes. Huge overhand right from Nunes. Two more big right hands from Nunes and Knee to the chin. Aldana fires some shots back but Nunes has the upperhand. Another big right hand from Nunes. Right to the body and left to the face by Nunes. Jab and huge right from Nunes. Big right to the body from Nunes. Hard right hook from Nunees. Spinning back elbow by Nunes.
Round 5
Nunes keeps her range with the jab. She goes for a takedown, eats a knee to the body, and gets the takedown. She’s in full guard of Aldana. Nunes lands shots from the top. She digs her head down in and pressures with her shoulder. Slicing elbows from Nunes. Aldana tries to push her away but Nunes holds on firmly and lands more shots. Amanda goes to the mount here. Nunes gets the mount and connects with several shots. She locks in her hooks and stays in position. Crushing shots from the top from Nunes. Nunes lands shots to the body. She’s trying to close the arm triangle and gets back to firing shots at her face. Nunes with shots to the body, hammer fists from the top.
Official Result: Amanda Nunes defeats Irene Aldana by unanimous decision (50-44, 50-44, 50-43).
