It’s possible that Christian and Angela Lee never fight again following the passing of their sister and fellow ONE Championship competitor, Victoria Lee. The 18-year-old Victoria passed away unexpectedly last month, but no cause of death has been made official as of this writing. Victoria was extremely talented, with many expecting her to reach championship status alongside her two siblings.
The trio’s camp and gym, United MMA in Hawaii, permanently closed down shortly after Victoria’s passing. With all that being said, there has been some speculation as to whether or not fans can expect to see Christian and Angela Lee compete in ONE Championship again given everything that has happened.
ONE CEO Speaks On Christian & Angela Lee’s Futures
ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong recently spoke to South Morning China Post in regards to the Lee sibling’s futures, noting that retirement for the pair is very much a possibility.
“The thought has crossed my mind that it’s possible that Christian and Angela … and I haven’t spoken to them so this is just pure conjecture, but I’ve thought of all the different scenarios,” Sityodtong said. “Either they’re not going to fight for a long, long time, and possibly they may later on choose to walk away from everything, but I have no idea…
“I don’t know if it’s true or not, I haven’t asked, but I heard that United MMA is closed down. I don’t know if that is rumours. It has been reported by the media. I have not asked the family. Our conversations have been sharply focused on Victoria, her legacy, and again I’m just sending love and prayers to them.”
In the wake of the tragedy, ONE will now host an annual “Victoria Lee Day” in honor of the late, young fighter. Currently, Christian Lee holds the ONE Championship lightweight and welterweight belts. As for Angela Lee, she currently reigns as the ONE atomweight champion of the world. Victoria was 3-0 in her professional career before her passing. She last competed in September of 2021, winning via second-round TKO.
