  • Nan claimed ONE is biased towards Lee after the controversial decision

Xiong Jing Nan took on Angela Lee for the third time in the headlining bout of ONE on Prime Video 2 this past Friday. The two ladies had previously shared the circle on two occasions, going level with a win each. In a hard-fought thriller that went the distance, Nan came out on top of the judges’ scorecards by unanimous decision.

Following the outcome, it appears that their rivalry may not be settled just yet as Lee raised alarm over the decision.

Xiong Jing Nan defeated Angela Lee at ONE on Prime Video 2

When Nan and Lee clashed the first time, Nan scored an impressive fifth-round TKO of Lee to defend her strawweight title at ONE Championship: A New Era in 2019. Lee earned an equally amazing fifth-round submission over Xiong at ONE Championship: Century to defend her atomweight belt.

For their third encounter, Xiong and Lee put it all on the line to deliver a thrilling show for the fans. Xiong had Lee hurt early in the bout when she connected with a huge right hand that rocked her opponent. Lee did well to survive the onslaught in the first round that nearly ended the contest. She recovered quickly for the second round and went on to mix up her striking with her grappling abilities to keep it competitive.

Xiong managed to edge out Lee and retained her strawweight strap after going the distance.

Xiong claimed ONE was biased ‘from the start’

Lee did not agree with the decision and shared her thoughts after a close loss.

“I don’t understand the decision. I don’t understand how you can score points on a card with your defense and running backwards. I gave it my all in this fight.”

ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong was also not in agreement with the judges and stated that he would ask to review the scorecards. Xiong did not take kindly to Chatri’s comments and claimed that the promotion was biased towards Lee.

“From the start, the organization has always been biased towards Angela Lee,” Xiong said through a translator. “But (I) don’t care because (I know I have) the ability to beat anyone.”

Lee gave no indications of wanting a fourth fight but given the result of Chatri’s comments, there will be more to come from both fighters.
