Beef has never been as simple as a light switch. It’s a gradual process that only results in someone being knocked out of a ring onto a row of televisions. Rampage Jackson knows what it’s like to have someone with the nickname ‘The Axe Murderer’ smile in your face before they deliver a knee to your skull that renders you unconscious on a table of broadcasting equipment. The beef was equalized at UFC 92 when Rampage not only got the knock-out but got a couple ‘Look man, this is what you call payback’ punches in there. To be fair, Wanderlei Silva is still 2-1 on Rampage. Now Quinton plans to live vicariously through Michael Bisping and corner him at UFC 110. Here’s what The Count had to say about it:
“I’m hugely grateful to Rampage [Jackson] for coming over to Widnes for the last week of my camp here, and also agreeing to come to Australia to be in my corner on the night…We have been discussing tactics for the fight, little tips and discussions about Wanderlei’s movement and shots, and Rampage thinks I will beat Wanderlei easily. He has inspired me and has kept confidence in the camp high…I have to keep my composure in this fight. We know what Wanderlei does – he throws aggressive shots with reckless abandon, and I’m psyched to put my game plan into practise. I have nothing but respect for Wanderlei, but I do believe I’m a better technical fighter and more well-rounded…I was very happy when it was announced that my opponent would be Wanderlei Silva. In fact, there was a lot of talk of it being at UFC 105, and I was delighted. I want to prove I am at this level. I made a mistake against Dan Henderson, but that is the level I want to fight at – and I want membership to that level by beating fighters like Wanderlei Silva.”
The Count. I can’t believe I used that on this site. There’s only one Count and he’s enriched with 12 vitamins and minerals and is a good source of calcium. Know your 80s cereal, know yourself. [Source]
