On Sunday, Jake Paul stepped into the squared circle for his seventh professional boxing bout.

After making his name against former MMA world champions including Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva, ‘The Problem Child’ finally squared up to a legitimate boxer in Tommy Fury. Boxing fans and many within the MMA community had their eyes locked on the bout, curious to see how the YouTube star would fair against another rising prospect.

One man that had his eyes (mostly) on Sunday’s showdown in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Curled up under a blanket in the comfort of his own home, ‘The Last Stylebender’ watched on as Jake Paul and Tommy Fury did battle for eight rounds, providing his own commentary on the action in a video uploaded to his FREESTYLEBENDER YouTube channel. When he wasn’t falling asleep that is.

Jon Jones Believes Jake Paul Did Enough to Defeat Tommy Fury

Following the fight, Israel Adesanya didn’t have a ton of insight into the decision but did reveal he had Jake Paul winning the closely-contested battle.

“I don’t really have anything insightful to say, but from where I was sitting, I thought Jake edged it out, but you know. Boxing, man. Boxing,” Adesanya said. “He’ll be back. It was a close fight. Also, good for Tommy as well. It’s his moment. Now he gets to come out of his brother’s shadow, keep the family name after going through the years of trying to get this fight together and back and forth, blah, blah, blah.”

Closing out the video, ‘Stylebender’ offered congratulations to Tommy Fury and echoed Jake Paul’s post-fight comments.

“Congrats to him and what Jake said. Don’t judge a man by his wins, judge him by his losses and how he comes back.”

The last bit was an obvious wink to MMA fans following Adesanya’s own shocking loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 281 in November. After suffering a fifth-round TKO, Adesanya will get another chance to earn a win over his longtime rival when the pair meet in the UFC 287 main event on April 8.
