Kamaru Usman Not Impressed by Diaz vs Masvidal
UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman certainly isn’t impressed by Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz. Especially when it comes to fighting for the ‘made up’ titles. While the two will square off for the coveted prize at UFC 244 on November 2nd, Usman will probably be shaking his head in shame at the BMF belt.
The UFC had a very difficult time booking Usman vs Colby Covington. After many failed attempts, the organization finally got it right. But, Usman thinks that the only reason why the BMF title was created, was because of the stalled negotiations. He spoke about his thoughts on the BMF title during the media day interviews via ESPN.
Usman on the BMF belt: They dropped the ball in getting my fight done for MSG. They had to create something for that. They have 20 losses combined. You’ve got 20 losses? Sit your ass down. You’re not the baddest mother fucker.

Usman stated,” They dropped the ball in getting my fight done for MSG. They had to create something for that. They have 20 losses combined. You’ve got 20 losses? Sit your a** down. You’re not the baddest mother f***er.”
Thoughts on the ‘BMF’ Title
While Usman and Covington hate each other, one thing that they agree on is the disdain for the BMF title. Covington stated in the past that he believes the belt is for journeymen and .500 level fighters. It also seems like neither man will take the title serious enough to grant the winner an actual title shot.
As the fight card approaches, more fighters have been coming out to express how they feel about the title and its meaning. Usman and Covington aren’t the only ones to speak out. In fact, ex- UFC fighters Anthony Johnson and Miesha Tate also believe that the belt is weird and has no real significance.
‘BMF’ Title Moving Forward
The only two people who truly seem to believe in the promotion of the title are Diaz and Masvidal themselves. And Dana White of course. Who, if you get him on board, anything is possible.
So whether we love the new title or not, someone will be crowned a winner in November. Don’t expect the hype of ‘BMF’ to die after the fight is over either. Something tells us, this is the beginning of something that is just getting started. Whether Usman likes the BMF idea or not.
