Urijah Faber Continues Pursuit Of Henry Cejudo Fight

Urijah Faber recently came out of retirement, and is looking for a title fight. He keeps setting his sights on Henry Cejudo.

Faber beat Ricky Simon in his return to UFC action, in July. Following that fight, he immediately called for a fight with Flyweight and Bantamweight champ Henry Cejudo. The two shared words, and went back and forth on social media. However since then, it appears that Cejudo will defend his Flyweight belt against Joseph Benavidez.

Nevertheless, this has not deterred the “California Kid” from still trying to get the fight. Faber spoke at a fan Q&A in Vancouver, where he explained why he wants this fight with Cejudo.

“Henry Cejudo’s got the world strap, and a couple of them, and an olympic gold medal, which I never set my goals on as a young wrestler. I probably should have. But that’s enticing. To snatch up a belt, a couple belts and a gold medal and silence the cringe would be a great step in the direction for me.

And it’s a great matchup. He’s naturally a 25-pounder. I’m a big 35-pounder. He’s got the wrestling pedigree. I’ve got better jiu-jitsu. He breaks guys, and I don’t break. So I think that’s a good matchup.”

Urijah Faber seems to think this makes perfect since. However, there are people at the top of both divisions who may feel a different way. Either way, you can not hate the man for trying to get another crack at UFC gold.
