UFC offers James Toney a 5-fight contract, dude turned it down

James Toney will forever go down as my…second favorite boxer out there. Anyone that says “I just have this thing inside me that wants to eat and conquer. Maybe it’s egotistical, but I have it in me. I don’t want to be a tycoon. I just want to conquer people and their souls.” pretty much wins my vote as greatest boxer of all time (we love you Tyson and thanks for making me slam my NES controller on my parents coffee table in frustration). James Toney has a ‘Hornilicious‘ record of 72-6 and the dude is still the current NABO and IBA Heavyweight champion. When he was questioned about his allegedy steroid use, Toney slapped the reporter in the face and said “If I’m the poster boy for steroids, steroids is going out of business.”

You’ve probably followed this strange trek through the backdoors of UFC for months now. First, James Toney called out Dana White on FightHype essentially saying that if he was on the card, they would have one of the most viewed PPV events ever. James Toney then brought out the ‘death fighter’ reference and told everyone that there is no possible way he’s going to the ground. We all had a laugh thinking there would be no way Dana White would bring James into the UFC (although I still personally believe Toney would clown a large portion of middleweights out there). All of a sudden, footage surfaced of a ‘secret’ meeting with Dana White and James Toney in which Toney explained the mechanics behind ‘front kick, side kick, check kick’. James Toney took the negations one step further by creating his own ‘hype’ videos which will go down in the pages of Youtube history. Now FightHype is reporting that Dana White has offered James Toney a five-fight contract that he turned down because it was ‘chump change’.

According to future Hall of Famer James “Lights Out” Toney, UFC President Dana White offered him a 5-fight contract with the stipulation that he no longer compete in boxing. “Dana White is a straight up ho! He makes me a 5-fight offer for chump change and said I can’t box anymore if I accept it. He must have lost his damn mind,” stated Toney.

James Toney must be under the illusion that there’s money in MMA. Either that, or he must be under the illusion that Dana White is ‘a straight up ho’. Whenever you ask for a raise and your boss refuses, just pull a James Toney and call him a ‘ho’. Actually, if you have a IQ higher than a warm jar of mayonaise then you’ll know that’s a really, really horrible idea. [Source]
