UFC 229 Breaks The Records – Tickets Nearly Sold Out, Second Largest UFC Live Gate Already

Despite All The Tickets Aren’t Sold Yet, UFC 229 Has Already Reached The 2nd Place!

UFC 229 has already broken many records. Tickets were put on sale on Friday. Presale was launched two days earlier for UFC Fight-Club Members. If we take a look at live ticket sales at the moment, UFC 229 is one of the biggest events in the history of this sport!

The initial ticket prices for Nurmagomedov Vs McGregor UFC 229 PPV (pay-per-view) event were 205-2505 dollars. It would depend on the seat you would have chosen. Few hundred most expensive tickets in the first rows were sold in three minutes! There was a small number of tickets left at the AXS ticket website. Yet, their prices were 990 dollars or up on Saturday afternoon. Believe it or not, there were only 300 tickets remaining on Friday night!

The UFC all-time record was reached at UFC 205 on November 12, 2016. Conor McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez at the main event of the evening via right uppercut KO. It was the first event in Madison Square Garden, New York. The UFC 205 set an impressive record of 17.7 million US dollars!

Conor didn’t fight for nearly two years after this victory and he was stripped of the title. Khabib Nurmagomedov became the champ after the victory over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223 on April 7, 2018. But that fight also happened in Brooklyn, New York!

UFC 129, held on April 30, 2011, was headlined by the fight of Georges St-Pierre, who was defending UFC Welterweight belt to Jake Shields. The prices were significantly lower, a quick sellout of 55,724 fans was achieved. Toronto was the host of the UFC event for the first time. This might be the reason for such a successful sale. The gate for UFC 129 was an unbelievable $12,075,000, and it is surpassed by UFC 229 already!

UFC 200 has set the record of $10,746,248. UFC 200, held on July 9, 2016, was very attractive due to the fight between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. Unfortunately, Jones was later suspended due to a failed drug test and their showdown never happened.

Bones was replaced by Anderson “The Spider” Silva in a non-title fight. The second fight that drew attention was the match between Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt. Despite Brock Lesnar won, it was later overturned to no contest due to his positive tests on clomiphene. The main event was switched to the match between Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes.

When it comes to the secondary market, the prices are growing rapidly. Tickets that were 205 dollars now cost 631 or higher! If someone wants a close look, he has to pay a lot of money. The most expensive ticket for a front row ringside seat was 45,000 dollars! You could buy a boat for that amount of money!

UFC 229 will be held on October 6th, 2018, inside T-Mobile Arena, in Paradise, Nevada. What do you think, will this be the largest gate in the history of UFC?
