Tyron Woodley Postpone Surgery, “I Don’t Think I Wanna Do It,” Because UFC Needs Me Now

UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz were in talks for UFC 219 super fight which ultimately fell through. He was expected to undergo a shoulder surgery, but lately, he’s been having a change of heart.

Recently speaking to media during last weekend’s UFC 218 festivities, said he is reconsidering as champ believes UFC might need him in coming months.

“I don’t think I wanna do [the surgery],” Woodley told reporters (h/t MMAMania.com). “I feel strong, I feel good. The game needs me right now, I don’t want to be away from it. I’m highly considering going a different route.”

Woodley has been rooting for a St-Pierre showdown who now owns the UFC middleweight title. Woodley initially tried to influence St-Pierre back down to the welterweight division, however, he recently hovers to the middleweight in an attempt to corner Michal Bisping.

“I’m not going up to middleweight because I think that will boost me on the pound-for-pound list,” Woodley said. “I want to fight Georges (St-Pierre), and he’s not fighting me at my weight, so I’ll come up and see you there.”

Tyron Woodley has fought mainly at welterweight division his entire career, but he anyway likes his chances at 185-pound. His most recent win was over Demian Maia at UFC 217 where he won the fight by unanimous decision this past July.
