Takanori Gomi says he can ‘calmly’ fight Frankie Edgar and win

In any given fight, Takanori Gomi has the ability to do this to someone’s head. If first-round knockouts were unsuccessful feature-length movies created from videogames, Gomi would be the Uwe Boll of MMA. Granted, Rampage was about a guy that makes a full body suit of kevlar and just kills people for two hours which pretty much makes it the greatest movie ever made. It also makes it a biographical piece if Takanori Gomi made a suit of kevlar and visited Newark, New Jersey.

This morning, a press conference was held in Tokyo to promote UFC Undisputed 2010 which featured Gomi and Okami rocking the traditional fist pose. Takanori also decided to promote a potential fight with the UFC lightweight champion which he says he would fight Frankie Edgar ‘calmly’.

“BJ, Florian have a jiu-jitsu base so I had a hard time dealing with them but the champion has a wrestling base so I can fight him calmly.”

“I’m aiming for the belt? Yes, I am. I think I can take the belt. Hmmm…I wonder if I’m stronger than the champ?? (smile).”

If this fight does happen and Gomi manages to defeat Frankie Edgar, he would hold the Pride FC and UFC lightweight belt. It would also prove the claim that ‘Pride Never Die‘, something that would undeniably make Bloodstain Lane happy. [Source]
