The MMA World Discusses If Stipe Miocic Is The Heavyweight GOAT

Stipe Miocic divided the MMA world with his victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 241. Now there is one question surrounding Miocic – is he the greatest heavyweight of all time?

Miocic was already considered one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, leading into his first fight with Daniel Cormier. However, when he lost those talks came to a screeching halt. The talk then shifted to Cormier’s place as the GOAT.

Nevertheless, at UFC 241, the two would rematch. This fight would conclude with Stipe avenging his loss, by finishing Cormier in the fourth round. Just like that, the talks of Miocic being the greatest reignited.

UFC Lightheavyweight Champion Jon Jones decided to speak up on this issue. Although he may be a bit biased, due to his rivalry with Cormier, Jones believes Miocic is in fact the GOAT. He said as much, in a Twitter post after the fight.

“Stipe is hands down the greatest heavyweight of all time. i have nothing else to say.”

On the other hand, not everybody agrees with Jon Jones. Bellator President Scott Coker spoke up after this monumental event. He also took to Twitter, but not to congratulate Miocic. Instead, he gave his opinion on who the greatest heavyweight fighter on the planet is. (Spoiler alert – it’s his heavyweight champion!)

The debate on the greatest of all time is tricky and subjective for any weight class. However, with the heavyweight division having always been a bit crazy, it is a hard case to make for Stipe Miocic. Although he is very clearly on the right track, having the most UFC title defenses.
