OU Wide Receiver Spencer Jones Gets What’s Coming After Bullying An Unassuming MMA Practitioner (VIDEO)

Spencer Jones, an Oklama Sooners wide receiver was seen on camera getting handled in a bathroom, after apparently picking on a bro who trains UFC

At this point, you would think that most people have learned that just because someone is smaller than you, does not mean they cannot kick some ass. However, it seems wide receiver Spencer Jones learned that the hard way after a recent altercation, caught on camera.

Standing 6’1, and weighing just under 200lb, Jones plays for the Oklahoma Sooners. All in all, he does not have the most on-field experience, but it says something that he is  able to play at that level of football.

Unfortunately it was not football that had Spencer in the news recently. Video has emerged of the wide receiver in a bar, appearing to be bullying and pushing a smaller man.

However Spencer Jones did not realize that this man trained in MMA. When a brawl broke out between the four total men, the unassuming man (after licking his palm and tapping Spencer on the face like a savage) was able to take down #87, hit him with some hard shots, and even take his back ad nearly choked.

Spencer Jones Almost Lost An Eye

As easy as it may seem to rejoice in what appears to be a case of quick karma, it is important to note that this was still a brutal assault. In fact, it turns out that Spencer Jones nearly lost an eye in the fight.

Woodrow Glass, the attorney who is representing Spencer in this matter, issued a statement to say that his client nearly lost an eye. Not only that, but he made it clear that Spencer’s stance is that he was trying to deescalate the situation.

“[Jones’ surgeon] came out of that surgery saying he’s extraordinarily lucky at this point, that he’s lucky he didn’t lose the eye altogether,” the Jones lawyer said (via OU Daily). “And so he was able to do some things surgically to rebuild that orbital socket and thinks everything is eventually going to come back to normal, but it’s going to take a while for him to fully recover.

“He was trying to de-escalate that situation,” he added. “But unfortunately, it wasn’t de-escalated despite his best efforts, and he became the victim of this vicious assault you’ve seen.”

As always, there is two sides to every story and it will be important to see how things turn out in the end, from a legal standpoint. Spencer Jones is clearly denying the allegations that he was bullying man inside a bar bathroom, but one can draw their own conclusions from the video.

The fact is, Spencer was not the one to shove the guy, and it would have been beyond terrible if something happened to his eye. On the other hand, there are two sides to every story and it is important to hear everyone out.

What do you make of this situation?

  1. He’s a chump for fighting in a bar, then calling his lawyer. Have some pride and take your whooping like a man. Making American football players look wimps.

  2. Spencer Jones got what was coming to him. Him snd his friend were obviously trash talking and his friend pushed the guy and the rest is history. File this under “just cause for war” and “karma”. Don’t be a dick and if you are accept the consequences.

  3. Look, it’s one thing to prove to someone you got them by getting them good and putting them down. There were at least 6 shots (hardest ones by far), well after the mma guy got the best of this cowboy boot wearing toolbag. Jocks think they are invincible, and I’m glad he got taken to task, however, it’s never OK to destroy someone for being an idiot. Mma guy went too far, as did the dude with the black beanie, way too far. Those dudes know how to fight and destroyed two peacocks, which makes them look like the bullies themselves. If losing my eye might cost me millions in potential earnings I’d call a lawyer too. So would you.

    • @Anthony, if you have the potential to earn millions you should keep your hands to yourself if you ask me. It’s easy to arm chair quarterback until you are the one who nose is bleeding and then someone pushes you. That kid stood there after someone made his nose bleed and he didn’t do anything until he was pushed. Walker Brown had no reason to think it was going to stop with a push. I don’t know how many fights you have been in but it takes a decent shot to make your nose bleed. It shows a huge amount of restraint and poise for that kid, I think. That is just my opinion. I see your point for sure I just don’t agree

  5. I would love to shake these Brown brothers hands. I would like to to shake the hand of their father. I would be proud of my sons they showed restraint and when it came time to go to work that’s what these boys did. If I lived in Norman my children would be going to the gym these boys went to. Whoever these kids trained with did one hell of a good job. Walker Brown had a bloody nose and still kept his cool, but if he had already been assaulted and then was pushed again. There was no reason for him to think that it would stop there, so he sprung into action defending himself and eliminated the threat. To Mr. Jones I have to say you play stupid games you win stupid prizes! Brown family hold your head high you have my support and the support of millions! Good Luck and God bless!

  6. Another insecure dumb with something to prove, and almost lost everything because of it. There need to be more severe penalties against football players that act like this.
The fact that his parents called their lawyer and pressed charges before the whole story was even out there goes to show what kind of person he is. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, after all.
