Shogun Rua wants the UFC to allow foot stomps

Everything that you ever wanted to know about MMA already happened in Pride. Hospital visits, brain concussions, guys with red thongs, teeth lodged in fists and above all else — foot stomps. It’s a tool that would completely negate any jiu-jitsu player from pulling guard in the middle of a match and would level the playing field from a wrestling-dominate MMA world. Ah, foot stomps. Pride isn’t dead, it’s just — hibernating and occasionally making appearances whenever someone needs to be kicked in the face. Shogun Rua is a fan and in this interview with ESPN UK, Rua wants the UFC to make foot stomps legal.

“In Brazil MMA is ready for the UFC now,” Shogun told ESPN. “Many people have seen the UFC, many people like MMA. It’s very popular now, and after UFC 134 on August 27 it will change even more because people will see this big show.

“I hope for a change in rules. The stomps… my opinion is elbows are more dangerous than stomps.”

Asked directly if he would like the UFC to make stomps legal, Shogun answered: “Yes!”

We all hope for a change in the rules, Shogun. You’re not alone in your assessment. But as Snoop Dog once said over a rather catch beat, ‘The game is to be sold, not to be told.’ Marinate on that.  [Source]
