Going into the bout after dropping four in a row, including back-to-back submission losses to Alexander Romanov and Jake Collier, Chase Sherman was looking to get back to winning ways against Jared Vanderaa at UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Fiziev on the main card of the night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Round 1
Vanderaa kicks things off with the jab and Sherman fires back. Good body shot by Sherman. Vanderaa is keeping the pressure up. Vanderaa walks into Sherman’s right hook. Vanderaa with a lead left hook. Low kick by Sherman. Sherman showing excellent head movement to dodge Vanderaa’s jab attempts. Sherman hits with a right after eating a leg kick. Vanderaa walks in again and Sherman counters to the body. Sherman goes in for a combination. Sherman has shown good use of kicks to the lead leg. Vanderaa with a straight jab to the body. Vanderaa with an inside low kick. Sherman tries a three-punch combination. More combination attempts by Sherman, he seems to be loading up and more aggressive. Vanderaa connects with a heavy right hook. Clash of legs. Jab by Sherman and leg kick by Vanderaa. Body shot by Sherman. Straight right by Sherman lands. Another big right by Sherman connects.
Round 2
Both men are in the pocket and exchanging strikes. Sherman lands a jab right after Vanderaa. Good leg kick by Vanderaa followed up by a jab. Vanderaa working from the outside, and Sherman hits a jab to the face. Nice straight jab by Vanderaa. Vanderaa is working well off the jab. Vanderaa continues his work with the jab. Leg kick by Vanderaa. Another jab by Vanderaa. Vanderaa walks forward with a punch and leg combination. Sherman blitzes in with a one-two. Both exchange jabs at the same time. Sherman with a nice right hook followed up by a straight left. Sherman counters Vanderaa with a big right. Another big right hook by Sherman with a lead jab to finish. Vanderaa with a jab. He tries a right hook but only finds Sherman’s back. More back and forth strikes by both as Sherman gets cornered to the cage. They return to the middle again. Sherman rushes in with another one-two and lightly connects.
Round 3
Final round kicks off in similar fashion with both men standing toe to toe in the pocket. Jab exchanges with Sherman landing the crisper combos. Vanderaa with a nice jab, a left hook and another jab followed up by a left hook. Vanderaa is using his jab to keep the distance. Sherman with an inside calf kick to the rear leg. Big right by Vanderaa backs Sherman up. Another big right by Vanderaa followed by a left hook. Vanderaa is putting his left hook to use. Another big right connects. Sherman fires back with a heavy one-two. Left hook by Sherman. Vanderaa hits a jab right to the chin. Sherman blitzes in to land a straight right to the chin. Sherman lands a counter jab. Sherman goes for the kill with a flurry of punches. A straight right clips Vanderaa and then a big left wobbles him. Huge punches being landed here, right and left and more.
