  • The 32-year-old won two of his three fights last year via KO/TKO

Cage Warriors returnee Shaj Haque did not fail to deliver in his first title fight in the promotion as he dethroned the now-former flyweight champion, Sam Creasey at CW 148.

A hard finish – MMA fighter Shaj Haque lands a devastating overhand right on Sam Creasey, sending him crashing to the ground in defeat

Haque and Creasey had a decent back-and-forth in the first two rounds, but in the final one minute and a half of the third was when things took a massive turn. Both flyweights decided to have a standup exchange in the middle of the cage but it was Haque, the challenger, who landed a vicious overhand right straight to the chin of the champ.

Creasey immediately got knocked out and the referee swiftly stepped in to prevent further damage.

A new king has arrived

The stunning victory didn’t only see Haque extending his impressive winning streak to five, but also made him Cage Warriors new flyweight champion. The 32-year-old won two of his last three MMA fights via KO/TKO and he certainly started the new year with another spectacular finish. Haque is now 15-5 as a pro and will be waiting for his first title defense.

On the other hand, Creasey saw his reign as flyweight champion cut short, having copped the vacant title in August 2022 when he stopped Stipe Brcic via an incredible first-round guillotine choke submission at CW 142. The 34-year-old is now 16-4 as a pro.
