Sergei Pavlovich wants to test himself against the champion Jon Jones in an “amazing” fight.
Following his huge win in Las Vegas last weekend, UFC heavyweight contender Sergeo Pavlovich is aiming for the top. Pavlovich made a statement at UFC Vegas 71 when he took out top contender Curtis Blaydes in the very first round. The 30 years old Russian-born fighter turned heads when he let his fists fly and continued his amazing streak of six first-round KOs in a row.
Immedalty fans and media began to sing Pavlovich’s praises some called him the next big thing in the heavyweight division. Others began to beg the UFC to set up a match between him and champion Jon Jones. Now Pavlovich is beginning to realize that a title shot could be a real possibility.
Sergei Pavlovich wants to test his reach against champion Jon Jones
Pavlovich has been quietly rising up in the heavyweight rankings. After losing his promotional debut, he has gone on to win six in a row and now with his most recent win over Blaydes finds himself in the number two position in the rankings. With all the talk about how he would fare against Jones, Pavlovich took to Twitter and made his own sort-of callout.
“Just look at that arm span!!! This is going to be the most amazing fight ever,” he wrote.
In his post, he shared an image describing the longest arm reach in the heavyweight division. Jones has him beat by only half of an inch. Pavlovich wants to test that stat in person. However, it seems that Pavlovich may not get that chance. Jones has expressed interest in making his last walk to the Octagon against Stipe Miocic later this year. The UFC seems to be having trouble locking that fight down and perhaps the young rising star could find a way to sneak in instead of Miocic.
