Robbie Lawler Suffered A Gruesome Knee Injury At UFC Winnipeg Against Rafael Dos Anjos

Robbie Lawler will be out of action for a while, as he suffered a severe knee injury.

Robbie Lawler could be on the shelf for a while after suffering a torn ACL against Rafael dos Anjos at the UFC on Fox 26.

It was a wild and brutal fight that ended up with Dos Anjos coming out on top with a unanimous decision. Unfortunately, Lawler suffered a severe knee injury.

UFC brass Dana White told Yahoo Sports that Lawler “blew his ACL and meniscus and every other thing that’s in your knee out and a former welterweight champion is expected to undergo surgery.

“The guy’s leg was destroyed. [Robbie Lawler] blew his ACL and meniscus and every other thing that’s in your knee out in like the third round. Wobbled over to the fence, laid against it, and asked [Rafael] dos Anjos to come in so they could just bang it out. Robbie Lawler went to the fifth round.”

“Ruthless” abandoned the welterweight title in a first-round knockout loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201. He bounced back in the win column with a three-round decision over Donald Cerrone at UFC 214 before falling to dos Anjos.

White didn’t mention when Robbie Lawler will undergo surgery, or how long he would be out, but similar injuries have kept fighters out of action for year long.
