A lot of people despise Adrien Broner and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a brash person who says very outlandish things. Sometimes he crosses lines that people believe shouldn’t be crossed. There was the incident with Paulie Malignaggi’s ex girlfriend and Broner’s use of her to promote the fight. There were his comments after his most recent fight saying “I just beat the **** out of a Mexican.” There was the Vine he posted of him flushing money down a toilet. I could go on but in the interest of brevity I won’t. There are plenty of reasons to not like Adrien Broner, but you know what? The sport needs people like him, they need guys who are different and do things other fighters won’t. I can’t defend some of Broner’s actions but those same actions that I can’t defend, make me want to see him fight.
This past week, Broner gave a homeless man a thousand dollars. Which, simply put, is an act of generosity that is nothing short of heartwarming and good on him for doing it.
Unfortunately this story doesn’t end here. Since the video went viral, some people saw it and recognized that guy, they proceeded to beat him up and steal his backpack which had most of the $1000 dollars in it.
