Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t want the smoke, according to Alex Pereira

Since winning at UFC 281, the UFC Middleweight Champion has been called out multiple times by Chimaev. Pereira wouldn’t let the top welterweight contender’s campaign go unnoticed as he’d accept Chimaev’s challenge— but not without adding his own terms.

‘Chimaev Didn’t Want It’

Gold wouldn’t be on the line as Pereira pushed for the fight to be at light heavyweight instead of middleweight because UFC 283 on Jan 21. would be too quick of a turnaround for the champ to make 185lbs. But, it looks like none of that will matter as ‘Borz’ apparently didn’t take the bait from the Brazilian.

“I went to my manager and said, ‘Look, I just did a hard weight cut, I can’t make [185] for this right now, but tell the UFC I’ll challenge him to fight me at 205 at in Rio.’ Chimaev didn’t want it.” Pereira said on The MMA Hour.

“He’s a big guy, [I’m] a big guy, let’s do it at light heavyweight so we don’t have to worry about a weight cut. We offered 205 for Rio.”

Chimaev Responds

It wouldn’t take long for Chimaev to respond to these claims from ‘Poatan’. Let’s just say the #3 UFC welterweight wasn’t happy about it.

“Wtf,” Chimaev wrote in an Instagram comment section. “I asked them about this fight in Brazil, fake belt, fake coach, fake fighter.”

Do you believe Khamzat Chimaev really turned down a fight with Alex Pereira?
