Paulo Costa Calls For Fight With Israel Adesanya

Israel Adesanya is set to face Robert Whittaker this weekend, at UFC 243. If he gets past that, Paulo Costa wants to fight him next.

Israel Adesanya took the UFC by storm in his first twelve months with the promotion. He went from unsigned to interim champion in the time it takes for the earth to rotate the sun. Not only that, but he has exploded in popularity for his outspoken nature.

The only other middleweight that has had a run anywhere close to Adesanya, is Paulo Costa. While his rise was not anywhere near as meteoric, he did get the attention of many fans. This is due to his incredible knockout power, and his chiseled good looks.

Although it took a little time, Costa was able to face off against middleweight mainstay Yoel Romero. While the fight was close and exciting, Costa would be the one to walk away with the decision. This puts him in a great position to face the winner of UFC 243’s main event between Adesanya and undisputed champ Robert Whittaker.

In a post to Twitter, Paulo Costa made it clear who he was rooting for in that fight. Not only did he call for a fight with Israel Adesanya, but he gave an ominous threat. The two had been going back and forth, and he was responding to Adesanya’s claims that he is a “overly-inflated baloon animal.”

“Remember skinny 🤡, I m rooting for you win and be my next opponent. I ll have my first kill on my records. 💀

Well that is some pretty serious words from Paulo Costa. If Israel Adesanya wins at UFC 243 this weekend, this fight very well could be next.
