Paulo Costa Dislikes Israel Adesanya

Paulo Costa wants Israel Adesanya to defeat Robert Whittaker to unify the UFC’s middleweight titles. While it sounds like a kind thought, Paulo wants Izzy to win because he wants to fight him next.

Costa has expressed his views on what he thinks about Adesanya plenty of times in the past. Furthermore, Costa recently he spoke with TMZ Sports about his thoughts on “Stylebender.”

“Yoel Romero is more tough(er) than Whittaker, I know (it). And, man, Adesanya, Adesanya is a fake champion.”, said Costa to TMZ.

Paulo then went on to belittle all of Izzy’s achievements in the octagon thus far.

He stated, “Because he (is) not proven yet. He needs to prove (it). He won against who? Tavares? Derek Brunson. Gastelum. Gastelum is (a) good fighter, but Gastelum is not a middleweight. Against Anderson Silva. Man, Anderson Silva is not top 10. Not top 5. I beat a real beast. I beat Yoel Romero.”

Costa Wants Adesanya Next

In addition to the TMZ Sports interview, Costa also spoke about Adesanya on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

On the show, Costa explained that he had no doubt in his mind that he would be able to defeat Adesanys with ease.

“I definitely will erase him.”, he said to Ariel. “He doesn’t have a chance, he’s very skinny. He’s just tall, he (does) not have a chin, (and does)not have confidence.”

For Costa, The Beef With Adesanya Is Personal

While Paulo doesn’t like Adesanya’s fighting style inside the cage, he also doesn’t like him as a person. He expressed how he believes that Izzy exudes fake confidence that isn’t authentic to the likes of Conor McGregor or Nate Diaz. He also wasn’t fond of “Stylebender’s” cryptic tweet about his gas tank and short arms:

When the moment arrives, Costa presumes he has the skills to erase whoever is standing in his way of the middleweight title. That moment will have to wait until Costa serves his six-month medical suspension from UFC 241. It will also depend on the result of Whittaker vs Adesanya at UFC 243. With the tension between the two, we can all assume that they will fight one day down the line, no matter what.
