Patchy Mix Puts Magomed Magomedov to Sleep in Second Round – Bellator 289 Results (Highlights)

Bellator MMA’s Bantamweight World Grand Prix tournament got its first finalist on Friday night at Bellator 289. No. 4 ranked Magomed Magomedov met the No. 2 ranked Patchy Mix in the first semi-final matchup at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. 

Round 1

Mix came out looking to create some distance between himself and Magomedov. Mix began to pressure Magomedov, pushing him back, and landed a solid 1-2 combination as Magomedov appeared to struggle with the reach advantage of Mix. Mix threw a leg kid which was caught by Magomedov. Using it to work for a takedown, Mix grabbed ahold of the Dagestani’s neck, threatening a guillotine. Magomedov fought his way out of the hold and got back to his feet with 90 seconds to go. Magomedov shoots for a takedown, but Mix sprawls and once again grabs ahold of the neck as the two get back to their feet and separate and the round comes to a close.

Round 2

Mix continued to put on the pressure, using his reach advantage to keep Magomedov at bay. Mix started attacking the leg to slow down his wrestle-heavy opponent. Magomedov attempted to close the distance and ate a knee to the body. Shooting again, Magomedov scored a takedown but is immediately reversed with Mix grabbing hold of Magomedov’s neck. Locking in a guillotine choke, Magomedov attempted to defend but was unable to fight out of the hold. The Dagestani goes to sleep and Patchy Mix is your winner by way of submission.
