It’s time to watch the UFC weigh-ins, which went down in the Mandalay Bay event center, which is one of my favorite places in the world, but only for maybe 24 hours every year or three. There’s something intoxicating about Mandalay Bay. Maybe it’s the coconut suntan oil, the heavy cigarette smoke near the Sports Book. It all adds up to an aroma that is perfect for fighting.
And perfect for starving yourself in a show of sportsmanship and equality.
Yes, today was the UFC 170 weigh-ins, and we were able to witness these martial artists diest with such ferocity, that they were considered equals, for at least a moment.
Watch Daniel Cormier make 205 without dying (he looked great, actually). Watch Ronda Rousey mean mug Sara McMann then call her fellow Olympian back for a heartfelt handshake. Listen to Sara McMann say this may be the best WMMA fight in UFC history. I agree, it could be, but Alexis Davis and Jessica Eye could give them a run for their money tomorrow night.
