Muhammad Mokaev has suffered an injury to his shoulder that will require surgery.

It seems that one of the UFC’s fastest-rising stars has just experienced a setback. The UFC flyweight division was put on notice earlier this year with the arrival of Muhammad Mokaev. This young up-and-comer burst onto the scene back in March and immediately began to turn heads. Now Mokaev has announced that he has suffered an injury to his shoulder that will keep him out for an undetermined amount of time.

“Alhadmulillah in any situation! Unfortunately, I have dislocated my shoulder, now I will wait for the operation!” he wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to all my supporters I will be back as soon as possible, I promise you! Love you all!”

Muhammad Mokaev is going to try and do everything he can to be ready for a return in London

Mokaev is a Russian-born fighter who was raised in England. He lives and trains out of Manchester and fought twice already in his home country. His first win in the UFC was at UFC London in March when he scored a first-round submission over Cody Durden. He followed that up once again by fighting on the next London card just four months later. He got another win that night in front of his home crowd. His third win in the year came at UFC 280, another submission win over Malcolm Gordon.

Mokaev was hoping to continue his winning streak this year and had been actively searching for an opponent on social media. Now he will have to sit back and heal from a dislocated shoulder.

“Exact same day last year I have broke my hand before my UFC debut in London,” he wrote. “I will do everything to fight on UFC London card! I tried to keep the operation till after the fight but I can’t even lift my arm.”

M0kaev is aiming to once again be added to the London card but will need to put time into his recovery first. The UFC will be returning to the O2 Arena in London on March 18 for UFC 286.
