Lightweights throw down in Las Vegas.
UFC veteran Jim Miller makes his return against Gabriel Benitez in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 84. Miller looks to start the year off strong with a win this weekend and later fight at UFC 300 in April.
Benitez stands in the way of Miller’s historic dream. ‘Moggly’ will try to string two wins in a row, with his last victory coming by way of TKO over Charlie Ontiveros. Miller can also relate as he follows up on a 23-second KO of Jesse Butler back in June.
Round 1:
Benitez gets off a few punches to begin the fight. Leg kicks land for Miller. Miller throws strikes to the body. Benitez and Miller trade leg kicks. Benitez just misses on a big left hand. Miller lands a combo of punches and follows it up with knees.
Benitez tries to keep Miller at bay with punches. Miller clinches with Benitez against the cage. 1-2 lands for Benitez. Miller continues with leg kicks. Miller eats a few punches from Benitez. Benitez finds success behind his jab, often adding in a cross.

Round 2:
Benitez and Miller get after it in the striking department with both men having their moments. Leg kicks add up for ‘A-10’. Miller lands a good body shot. Miller goes up top with punches.
Miller grabs a takedown on the Mexican fighter. Miller controls Benitez from the top position. Miller lands short shots while Benitez looks for a submission.
Miller punishes Benitez on the ground with a powerful punch. Miller seizes back control with a body triangle. Benitez survives the submission threat.

Round 3:
Miller lands a punch and follows it up with a solid leg kick. Miller continues to pour it on Benitez. Benitez eats more leg kicks from Miller. Benitez pumps out the jab. Miller cracks Benitez with a right hand.
Both men go back and forth with punches. Miller quickly shoots for a successful takedown. Benitez attempts to get back up but Miller mounts his back in the process. Miller grabs ahold of the neck and goes for the rear-naked choke. Within seconds, Benitez taps out.
