There was a popular internet meme a few years back called “If you watch X backwards, it’s about Y“. It all started with a guy re editing Jaws into reverse chronological order and titling the new version of the 1975 classic “The story of a shark who throws up humans until they open the beach“. Hilarity ensued across the internet. For example, If you watch Black Swan backwards, it’s about a dancer who cures her insanity by sleeping with Mila Kunis. Or one of my favorites: If you watch Pimp My Ride backwards, you will see that Xzibit removes things from cars to make them more normal looking and socially acceptable, while minimizing weight. It even works with books and videogames. GTA IV is about a guy getting deported.
If you watch X backwards, it’s about Y works with MMA as well, but only sometimes. I think the hot topic of last weekend might fit the bill, lets put it to use with Bisping Rivera. Michael Bisping sucks spit off of Jorge Rivera’s cornermen, TKO’s Jorge and then Rivera makes a series of video’s mocking Bisping using costumes and singing. OK, maybe that isn’t the best example, lets show you the moment Bisping/Chael was brought up to The Count via Ariel Helwani and MMAFighting.com while I think of a better watch X backwards, it’s about Y.
If you watch the Brock/Frank Mir saga backwards it’s about a couple of guys who hated each other, got in a bunch of fights and then Brock becomes a pro wrestler and Frank Mir gets in a motorcycle wreck.
