Despite the influx of overly clever YouTube videos emerging from Jorge Rivera’s camp, Michael Bisping used every ounce of his emotion to — well, to score an illegal knee in the first round. A lot of people believe that it was unintentional, so I’ll let everyone out there bask in that illusion for the rest of the evening. Granted, if Jorge Rivera chose not to continue with the fight, it would have been ruled a disqualification in favor of Jorge and the fight would have abruptly ended and everyone watching UFC 127 would have that all too familiar sensation of disgust in their stomach. Jorge Rivera continued with the fight, managed to get through the first round, but was ultimately finished by fist missiles, imported from England, all with ‘Bisping’ on the side of them. Fist missiles, stop giggling under your breath.
Regardless of what happened tonight, Michael Bisping showed that he’s a complete mixed martial artist by constantly changing levels, going for the takedown, faking the takedown, mixing his striking up with an array of kicks — and trash talking after the fight. Emotions ran high, which is understandable. However, this marks the first time in which a fighter has apologized for talking smack, then talks smack after the apology, then apologize for the post-apology smack-talk.
Look at you Brits, Bisping grabs the TKO over Rivera and England defeats France in the Six-Nations. Hats off, playas.
