Melvin Manhoef vs. Robbie Lawler going down Jan. 30th

My favorite Robbie Lawler story is non-existent because I don’t have one. Sorry. However I can tell you that when he KOd Joey Villasenor in Pride FC with that insane flying knee, that pretty much landed him on the map. Last month we said if it were up to us and we had the Strikeforce edition of ‘Choose your own adventure’, we would immediately turn to the page that begins with ‘Melvin Manhoef gets on a plane to Miami, Florida’. He’s perhaps the most interesting match-up for Robbie Lawler.

A few weeks and a Dynamite!! 2009 explosion to Misaki’s face later, we have confirmation that Robbie Lawler will bang against Melvin Manhoef on the Strikeforce: Miami card January 30th. We can’t tell you who the source is not because we’re trying to be egotistical incogdouches. Not at all. We were just don’t want the person to get into any legal troubles with Strikeforce. This came from a very, very close person to Melvin Manhoef so close in fact that they may even be related.

Back in August, Scott Coker said he would like to put together Melvin Manhoef vs. Robber Lawler, Shinya Aoki vs. Josh Thompson or Gilbert Melendez. So far the only fight that has materialized (as of a few minutes ago) is Manhoef vs. Lawler. Aoki vs. Melendez is rumored to go down sometime in 2010 and according to Aoki, right around March-May…right after he returns Hirota’s arm to his socket.
