Marlon Vera is confident that the UFC would be booking him for a title fight with Sean O’Malley next. Ahead of the potential showdown, Chito weighed in on O’Malley’s power and chances of beating him in a second meeting.

Sean is only good against weak fighters

Speaking on Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk podcast, Vera questioned O’Malley’s punching power. According to Chito, “Suga” could hit and be confident only if he was taking on a weaker fighter and not high-level guys like him.

“I really feel I got many different advantages on him I know where he’s good, he have a good right hand, all those fancy [things], it only worked for a guy that is nervous or like is scared of a big punch. I’ve been in front of all the biggest punchers ever… [He’s] great to watch, he’s funny, he has a you know the basketball thing, he don’t do that in front of a high level guy. He did that against this green hair kid that had two fights in the UFC… I would take that sh*t [out] in between rounds,” Vera said.

The fight Vera was talking about was O’Malley vs. Kris Moutinho at UFC 264. In that bout, “Suga” TKO’d Moutinho in Round 3. For Vera, it wasn’t impressive as it speaks a lot about O’Malley’s power, pointing out that the fight shouldn’t have reached Round 3 if he was really a heavy-hitter.

“That also tell you something… maybe he’s not that powerful. He got a good snap but like a rock in his hand? maybe not. Like he’s quick and he have power but if that guy can eat that many punches,” he added.

The title fight is happening

Vera also reiterated that O’Malley could think that he has options for his next fight but the truth is that the UFC knows their rematch would generate a lot of money. Nothing is concrete at this point, but Chito claims it is happening.

“I think that’s happening… From what he understands, the UFC haven’t told me anything but knowing that the UFC is a money machine… they’re not here to please your feelings or hurt your feelings. They do what is best for business fair and this is good for business,” Vera explained.

Vera remains the only fighter to ever stop O’Malley as a pro. Now that “Suga” has become the bantamweight champ, Chito think it is the perfect time to do a rematch.
