- Petr Yan shared his thoughts on Sean O’Malley
- “No Mercy” named the possible opponents he wants to face next
Petr Yan addressed his status with Sean O’Malley and what he plans to do next.
It would’ve been ugly
During the UFC 299 press conference, O’Malley mocked Yan as he was walked towards his seat. Yan did not see what “Sugar” did and only learned about it later.
Speaking to Championship Rounds, “No Mercy” commented on the incident and guaranteed that things would’ve gone ugly between him and O’Malley had he seen it.
“If I had seen that. We would have had a fight.” Yan said.
Petr slights Sean’s career
Yan was also asked to comment on O’Malley’s remark in which the reigning bantamweight champ said “No Mercy” would possibly end up joining the BKFC. Yan understood that O’Malley was trying to troll him. However, “No Mercy” was not bothered by it.
According to Yan, he and O’Malley would have different trajectories because unlike “Sugar,” his life is not all about the UFC.
“For Sean, the UFC is everything. It’s not everything to me. I don’t have the attitude that I overvalue it and I don’t see myself in other organizations. MMA is not everything to me.”
Petr wants rematches
As for what’s next for him, Yan pointed out that he is looking for some rematches. As it stands, “No Mercy” is interested to run it back with O’Malley as well as a couple of top contenders.
“I want rematches… I told you it’s gonna be rematch season. I’m interested in Sean O’Malley, Merab Dvalishvili. I’m not interested in [Aljamain] Sterling, he’s a different weight. I’m interested in Marlon Vera. [Henry Cejudo] is out of the question now.”
After three consecutive defeats, Yan was able to get back to the win column after beating Yadong Song at UFC 299. Yan’s goal is to get another crack at the title and he sees a victory over one of his past opponents as his ticket.
