Mark Pavelich doesn’t want a statue erected in his honor, just a ‘thank you’

Last week I asked Mark Pavelich what he thinks about UFC allegedly opening a new office/headquarters sometime this summer and he told me that ‘The MFC has no comment on this UFC matter’. The next day, MFC press released that the organization intends to be the first promotion to ever hold an event in Ontario once MMA is legalized. Over the weekend, Pavelich felt like reiterating himself in the form of a videoblog and I sincerely thank him for it. Whenever the Pav talks, you can’t help but sit in awe at the words emerging from his mouth. In his new vlog, Pavelich says that he doesn’t want a statue built of him, but he just wants a ‘thank you’ for working to get MMA legalized in Ontario.

“When I got [MMA] sanctioned in Alberta, I’ve never once received a Christmas card, a ‘thank you’, any type of anything from any promoter ever thanking me for doing the sanctioning here. The countless hours in court rooms, the countless hours meeting with city councils… weeks and weeks of getting it sanctioned.

I’m not asking for a statue of myself, but not one thank you from anyone…the second it [MMA] gets sanctioned, Maximum Fighting Championships should be the first MMA organization ever in Ontario and I believe it rightfully so as well. Being that we are the largest show in the country and are in the top 3 or 4 [organizations] in North America.”

So you don’t want a statue in your honor? Damn. Looks like we better take all these spare plywood back to Home Depot. We’re just kidding. We don’t even know where Home Depot is. [Source]
