- Manon Fiorot feels she deserves to get a title shot after beating Rose Namajunas
- “The Beast” thinks she could take Erin Blanchfield out without breaking a sweat
UFC flyweight Manon Fiorot spoiled Rose Namajunas’ flyweight debut at UFC Paris with a dominant unanimous decision win. She now wants a title shot next but would also be thrilled to get past another title fight candidate Erin Blanchfield.
Erin is an easy opponent
Speaking to the media in her post-fight press conference, Fiorot insists that beating a big-name former champ in Namajunas should be enough for her to become the next title challenger and face the winner of the upcoming Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko title fight.
However, if the UFC thinks she should first take on the No. 6 flyweight Blanchfield, then it would not be a problem as “Cold Blooded” is just an “easy” opponent for her.
“For sure I want to take this belt and fight the winner [of Grasso vs. Shevschenko]… I took Rose who is a former champion, I dominated her in all rounds so yes, I’m ready… If UFC wants me to fight [with Blanchfield], I’ll take the fight. It’s an easy fight for me,” Fiorot said.
Rose is not for flyweight
Fiorot also pointed out that Namajunas did alright in the flyweight division but “Thug” did nothing to hurt her. In fact, “The Beast” thinks “Thug” doesn’t have the power to compete with the flyweights.
“I think she still lacks a little power in this category. After that, I don’t know what she’s going to do… but I thinks [flyweight] is not the category [for her],” Fiorot commented.
The win over Namajunas saw Fiorot improving her undefeated UFC run to six wins in a row. On the other hand, “Thug” has now lost two consecutive fights. Prior to this, Namajunas lost to now-former strawweight champion Carla Esparza at UFC 274.
