- Rose Namajunas commented on Tracy Cortez’s dramatic weigh-in at UFC Denver
- “Thug” discussed the possibility of a flyweight title shot and BMF title fight
Rose Namajunas expressed skepticism about Tracy Cortez’s weigh-in at UFC Denver and interest in fighting for the women’s BMF title.
Something’s wrong with the scale
Speaking to reporters in her post-fight presser, Namajunas revealed that she thinks there was something odd about the scale during Cortez’s weigh-in. For context, Cortez almost failed to make weight and had to cut a huge chunk of her hair to make the 126-pound limit.
“I do feel like, I don’t know who’s in charge with making sure that the scale that you check your weight on before you get on the official scale, there’s supposed to be the same. And they were not the same. So, whoever is in charge of that, I need to talk to because that was very, to me it was very suspicious or something, it didn’t feel right,” Namajunas said.

Rose envisions title fights
Namajunas dominated Cortez en route a unanimous decision victory. Unsurprisingly, “Thug” discussed her plans to fight for the flyweight title sooner rather than later, and preferably in her home country in Lithuania.
“I had this vision, I want to fight in Lithuania one day,” Namajunas said. “Bring the UFC to Lithuania, and I would love to rematch Manon [Fiorot] or anybody for the belt, whatever. That’s my dream come true, but anything that the UFC has in mind, I’m cool with as well.”
Apart from the flyweight title, Namajunas is also open to fighting for the potential inaugural UFC women’s BMF title. At this point, “Thug” said it could either be Joanna Jedrzejczyk or Jessica Andrade.
“I don’t know, I was just joking actually,” Namajunas said about suggesting a BMF title fight with Jedrzejczyk. “But I know Joanna [Jedrzejczyk] says she would come back for a women’s BMF, so that would just be for fun. I love her. I don’t know, I think I was just kind of joking there. I don’t know what I was thinking.”
“I would fight her [Andrade] maybe for another belt, and you saying that it’s like, ‘eh,’” she added. “But I want the real belt.”
The win over Cortez saw Namajunas completing her first back-to-back wins as a flyweight. However, it is yet to be known if “Thug” could also break into the division’s Top-5 and finally be viewed as a possible title challenger.
