Chuck Liddell has chimed in on the upcoming fight between Anderson Silva vs. Jake Paul.
Silva is slated to meet the social media sensation in a boxing match on Oct. 29. The undefeated Paul looks to improve to 6-0 in the ring while the former UFC Middleweight Champion eyes to extend his win streak to 3 in a row.
Paul Has Got Nothing To Lose
Ahead of the pay-per-view headliner, ‘The Iceman’ himself breaks the ice in the match-up.
“I think it’s a dangerous fight for (Jake),” Liddell said to Fight Hub TV. “I mean, he’s got nothing to lose – he’s fighting Anderson Silva. He’s got nothing to lose, but that’s dangerous.”
Silva Might Be 47, But He’s Still Powerful
Men with nothing to lose are often considered to be the most dangerous. Paul has shown his power in previous fights, knocking out Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren, but, Liddell believes the 47 year-old Silva will still be too much of an issue for ‘The Problem Child’ to handle.
“Anderson is still powerful. He’s still sharp and he’s a striker. Jake had some good luck with guys that were wrestlers that tried to strike. … One thing is to have OK striking for MMA, but that’s because you have to worry about them taking you down. When you don’t have to worry about getting taken down, then it’s hard to land those big bombs. But Anderson, he’s a striker and has been concentrating on boxing. He looked great in his last couple of fights.”
‘I Think He Knocks Him Out’
Silva is coming off a string of wins in the boxing ring. He’d go the distance with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. before knocking out Tito Ortiz under two minutes. In his last showing, Silva would defeat Bruno Machado in an exhibition match.
Liddell believes Jake Paul will be the next fighter to be webbed by ‘The Spider’.
“I think [Silva] wins, I think he knocks him out,” Liddell continued. “But hey, man, I’m interested to see it. Good luck to Jake. The kid is fighting. He goes out there and really fights. You have to respect that.”
