Let Dean Lister tell you about the time when he and Fedor were locked in a room with the Japanese Yakuza

It’s pretty sad how we have a new generation of MMA fans that have never heard of Dean Lister. Although he’s still prevalent in the BJJ world, it’s been a while since we’ve seen The Boogeyman. Apparently Lister fought in something called ‘Cage Contender 13’ in Dublin, Ireland last year — his first bout since 2009, and he won via inverted heel-hook. Lister’s jiu-jitsu is legit. The guy has more ADCC gold medals than you have reasons why The Walking Dead isn’t that good of a TV show.

Aside from being one of the handful of people that submitted Jeremy Horn in his 115+ fight career, Dean Lister was also heavily marketed in Japan when he fought for Pride FC. So much in fact that in this interview on the Basketak Podcasts, Lister recounts a story of how the Japanese Yakuza essentially forced him to fight a bout in the organization while Fedor stoically listened.
