Laura Sanko pinpoints Israel Adesanya’s keys to victory

Sanko has looked into the skills and backgrounds of both Adesanya and Pereira. She took a look at the two kickboxing bouts between these two, both of which were won by Pereira. Many people believe that fans will see a reincarnation of the kickboxing bouts but Sanko sees it differently. She spoke to Submission Radio about this and more.

“This is not a kickboxing fight,” she said. “We can geek out about all the reasons why things are different for me the biggest difference for Izzy and the biggest thing that he will have to control to stay away from whether it’s that left hand that we always like to point out or the right hand or the knees, he has a lot of weapons. He carries power in all eight limbs. Izzy has to control the range. The range for Izzy in an MMA fight is so different than they way the fought kickboxing.”

Sanko believes that Adesanya’s technique has changed since making the transition to MMA. Stylistically she feels he has progressed and his patience will come into play.

“Izzy was a much more aggressive, in-your-face, foot-on-the-pedal striker in kickboxing,” she explained. “Some of that is the glove size and some of that is you’re not thinking about takedowns or getting caught pinned up against a fence.”

This bout will be headlining the biggest event of the year on Saturday, Nov. 12 live from Madison Square Garden in NYC. The co-main event will feature a strawweight title fight between champion Carla Esparza and Zhang Weill.
