One week after Brandon Vera fought Randy Couture at UFC 105, Strikeforce gave us the female version of the same fight with Kerry Vera vs. Kim Couture. After one of the most amazing weigh-ins in history, Kerry Vera unloaded an offensive onslaught that left the same amount of damage on Kim Couture as the A-Bomb did on Hiroshima. The residual fallout gave Erin Toughill plenty more fuel to re-ignite her hatred for Couture, insisting she’s destroying women’s MMA. Abrasive as it may sound, it doesn’t seem to be affecting her in the slightest. Kim snagged a 1st round TKO win this past March over Rosa Vizcarra in Mexico, planned to open her own all-female MMA gym, and has already begun assembling an all-female fight team appetizingly named “The Vixen Crew”. Props to her for brushing off all the debris from her Strikeforce loss and moving on to bigger and better things. In fact, everything seemed to be shifting from buster to baller until we learned that she was arrested for domestic violence over the weekend.
Based on what we know, an argument at the UFC Fan Expo on Friday blossomed into police busting down doors and prying Kim Couture’s hands off her assistant’s neck. Nobody knows how the argument got from the expo to a ‘domicile’ or exactly what this ‘personal assistant’ actually assists with, but the person allegedly showed visible signs of abuse as she was wheeled away by Metro PD to the Clark Country Detention Center. Couture posted bail and was seen back at her gym training today as she awaits to hear what happens next.
We’re pretty sure the chick will pull through, and when she does, he’s probably going to need to find a new job & some basic jiu-jitsu lessons. On that note, we can also assume that Kim Couture has an fresh opening for a new personal assistant. If you’re unemployed, live in the Las Vegas area, and aren’t afraid occasionally getting choked, you should brush up your resume. Good luck to whoever gets the job and be sure to “Protect Ya Neck”.
