Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns had an impromptu run-in ahead of their UFC 273 clash but they kept things civil.
Chimaev and Burns will collide on April 9. The welterweight scrap will take place inside the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a huge fight for Chimaev. Soon, MMA fans will find out if it’s too much too soon, or if we have a star on our hands.
Khamzat Chimaev & Gilbert Burns Have Encounter
Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns happened to bump into each other when they were both wearing nothing but towels. Chimaev found one heck of a way to break the ice.
“I’ve got you now. Come, we’ll fight naked. You want to fight me naked?”
Chimaev then attempted some one-upmanship, telling Burns he looks small.
“Ah, you’re small, brother. You have to eat much, brother. Eat banana, brother. Chocolate. … Show me power, brother.”
Burns responded by telling Chimaev he’ll find out just how much power he has on fight night.
“I will show you Saturday. I’m gonna show you. Let’s go. I will show.”
Chimaev enters this fight with a perfect pro MMA record of 10-0. All four of his UFC victories have ended with a finish. He scored a first-round technical submission over Li Jingliang back in Oct. 2021.
As for Burns, he once challenged for the UFC Welterweight Championship and hopes to fight for the gold again. He’s gone 7-1 in his last eight outings.
