Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz shared their honest thoughts on Charles Oliveira’s unfortunate UFC 294 exit that resulted in an Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski rematch.

It doesn’t matter

Oliveira has been replaced by Volkanovski after he was forced to pull out from UFC 294 due to a severe eyebrow cut he incurred during an intense sparring session. Makhachev has been training for “Do Bronx” but he is left with no choice but to make last-minute adjustments. However, Nurmagomedov insists that it wouldn’t be an issue for the reigning lightweight champion.

“This is a situation brother, Islam is a world champion right now if somebody can make 155 [pounds] and the UFC says this guy is a contender, who cares? Doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter who. If King Kong can make 155 okay, bring this guy here. Doesn’t matter,” Khabib said in a video posted on his social media accounts.

“I told Islam early in the morning that it doesn’t matter, you are the champion. Volk, Charles, Poirier, or Justin, it doesn’t matter brother. If it is supposed to be Charles, okay, he pulls out but we already beat him. We don’t care about this but if they want Volk again, the first fight, it was a very good and very competitive fight. But we know, and their team know, we won via unanimous decision, it wasn’t even a split decision,” he added. “… We have five more hard days for training and we’re ready for whatever.”

Nate mocks Charles

Oliveira has already apologized to the fans for what happened and revealed his gruesome eye injury as well. Despite the proof, UFC legend Nate Diaz still ripped the Brazilian with a short but tactless comment.

“Crotch injury just like Dustin porier,” Diaz wrote on Twitter.

Oliveira’s exit, saw Makhachev taking on Volkanovski once again. Volk is coming in on an 11-day notice and will have his second shot at finally becoming a two-division champion after losing to Makhachev in the first meeting at UFC 284.
