A short-notice fight at UFC 279? That’s no problem for two game fighters on the roster.

In just a few weeks, the UFC’s ‘Batman’ Kevin Holland will be taking on Daniel Rodriguez at UFC 279 on Sep. 10. The welterweight bout would be announced by Holland on Wednesday.

‘Trailblazer’ has had quite the journey in 2022. He’d finish both Tim Means and Alex Oliveira inside two rounds, earning ‘performance of the night’ honors. Besides picking up $50K bonuses inside the Octagon, Holland has also been active outside of the fight game.

Holland would turn into some sort of a vigilante these past few months, saving the day on multiple occasions. In March, he reportedly subdued an active shooter at a sushi restaurant. Following that, the UFC hero would rescue a man from an overturned tractor-trailer in May. Holland was said to even stop a criminal right before his last fight at UFC Austin.

He might not be a bird or a plane or Superman, but he’ll swoop in to fight Rodriguez on short notice at UFC 279.

Rodriguez makes his UFC return after a year-long layoff. ‘D-Rod’ last fought Kevin Lee in August of last year, where he defeated the ‘Mo-Town Phenom’ by unanimous decision.

We haven’t seen ‘D-Rod’ in the Octagon since then, as he has been sidelined with injuries. Good news is there won’t be any more bench-warming, as the top welterweight prospect is ready to rock in Las Vegas.

Rodriguez vs. Holland is the latest addition to UFC 279. The promotion recently announced Tony Ferguson vs. Li Jingliang in a last-ditch effort to stack up the September pay-per-view, headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev.
