Justin Gaethje Predicts Cageside Doctors Will Have to Save Max Holloway From Himself at UFC 300

BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje plans on finishing Max Holloway — one way or another.

On Saturday, April 13, ‘The Highlight’ will put his bragging rights belt on the line against former featherweight champion Max Holloway in what is being dubbed by pundits as “the people’s main event” for UFC 300. It will be Gaethje’s first time competing since scoring an epic head-kick KO against Dustin Poirier last summer.

Sharing his preview of coming attractions, Justin Gaethje made it clear that he is gunning for a blood-soaked finish of ‘Blessed’ in Las Vegas, even suggesting that the cageside doctor may have to step in and save Holloway from himself.

“No one steals the show quite like ‘The Highlight.’ Carnage, chaos, probably some blood and adrenaline coursing through the veins, that is what you are going to get from me,” Gaethje said in a promotional video for his UFC 300 clash with Max Holloway. “My ability to create damage is second to none. Max Holloway is a legend, probably the only person on the UFC roster that checks every single box of being a BMF so I have a lot of respect for him.

“However, this is my job and I’m going to try and f*ck him up. I will finish Max, he may not go away the traditional way, but I think I will inflict damage to where the doctors need to stop it. We are about to paint a violent picture and no two better guys to go out there and put on a show.”

Max Holloway Eyeing Lightweight Title Opportunity with Win Over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300

Calling the featherweight division home — aside from an epic encounter with Dustin Poirier in 2019 — Max Holloway has become one of the most beloved fighters in UFC history. His high-volume striking paired with his clinical precision has dispatched some of the biggest names in the game, including The Korean Zombie, Arnold Allen, Yair Rodriguez, Calvin Kattar, Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo, and Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis.

In fact, Holloway’s only losses at featherweight since 2014 have come against Alexander Volkanovski.

Should ‘Blessed’ succeed in capturing the BMF title at T-Mobile Arena, he plans to pursue a potential clash with the lightweight division’s reigning champ, Islam Makhachev.

“I’m in a place where first things first is Gaethje, but if I got out there and get my hand raised like I plan on doing, there’s a lot of fights that can be there for us — one of them being the [155 pound] champ which I think it would be a fun one,” Holloway told Kevin Iole during a recent interview.
