A rematch between two legends

Dos Santos vs. Werdum will take place at Gamebred Fighting Championship 5 on September 2, 2023, at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida. Needless to say, the match is highly anticipated as it would be a rematch between two of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time.

It can be recalled that Dos Santos and Werdum in 2008 at UFC 90 where “Cigano” finished “Vai Cavalo” via first-round TKO. Since then, both had their respective reigns as the UFC heavyweight champion but never had the chance to run it back.

Dos Santos last fought in MMA at Eagle FC 47 against Yorgan De Castro where he suffered a TKO loss due to a shoulder injury in the third round. On the other hand, Werdum has not fought professionally since 2021. He initially lost to Renan Ferreira via TKO at PFL 3 2021 but the result ended up being overturned to a No Contest.
